“The natural world is the greatest source of excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”

Sir David Attenborough is an English broadcaster and natural historian whose landmark BBC series, beginning with Zoo Quest (1954) and including Life on Earth (1979) and Planet Earth (2006), defined the nature documentary. Over a career spanning more than 70 years, he has filmed wildlife on every continent. In later life he has become a leading voice on climate change and biodiversity loss, notably in A Life on Our Planet (2020).
