— B. F. SKINNER
Psychologist and founder of radical behaviorism · 1904 – 1990
Burrhus Frederic Skinner was an American psychologist who developed the theory of operant conditioning and invented the operant conditioning chamber, known as the 'Skinner box'. A Harvard professor for most of his career, he argued that behavior is shaped by its consequences of reinforcement and punishment. His books, including Walden Two (1948) and Beyond Freedom and Dignity (1971), made him one of the most influential and controversial psychologists of the 20th century.
