“I too have a tongue in my mouth. If only you would ask what I have to say.”
— JAUN ELIA
Urdu poet · 1931 – 2002
Syed Sibt-e-Asghar Naqvi, known as Jaun Elia, was a Pakistani Urdu poet, scholar and philosopher born in Amroha, India. His verse blends deep classical learning with a rebellious, melancholic wit unlike any other Urdu poet. His first collection, Shayad, appeared in 1991, yet his couplets are among the most quoted in the language.
